Entry #1. The Best Hobby.

Let me take a minute to introduce my self. My name is Jaxon Camp, I am a senior in high school and I have lots of free time and many hobbies. In this blog I will be talking about one of my hobbies which is playing volleyball. This hobby takes up most of my time when it comes to practice, tournaments, and traveling out of state for championship games. This is my favorite hobby as I find the most joy out of it, especially interacting with your own team and many other teams. Within the 4 years I have been playing volleyball I have gained a love for it, improving my communication skills and an easy way to stay in shape.

One of the main reasons to take up volleyball as a hobby is the physical fitness it offers. It's a full-body workout that engages various muscle groups, improves cardiovascular health, and enhances your overall endurance. It's not just about spiking the ball; it's about the constant movement, agility, and coordination that keep you on your toes.

Another reason is the mental health benefit of volleyball, the game's strategic aspects require quick decision-making, teamwork, and communication. The social aspect of volleyball is also beneficial for mental health. Playing with a team allows players to form strong bonds and friendships, which can provide a sense of belonging and support. Though it may take time to do so, this can be especially beneficial for people who may be feeling isolated or lonely. Volleyball also doesn't just have to be played at the competitive level, you can find small groups near you who just play for fun as a small hobby. This is how I found my joy in volleyball, I then started to play more and more serious.

Overall volleyball can be played at any level and this hobby still provides the benefits of physical fitness and mental health. It is very easy to start to get into, you can even practice from home, all you need is a ball and a wall. This team sport can help you in many different ways. If you are looking for a hobby, consider volleyball!

  1. Thanks for sharing your favorite hobby. I have only seen in volleyball in media, so it is interesting to see the reasons why you go into it. The amount of coordination it takes to play volleyballs seems intense. Balancing communication with teammates, while the physical toll must be a lot of work.

  2. My brothers and I have played volleyball for a while now and my brothers played it in high school. I never was able to make it fit into my schedule along with work and everything, but I still play with my brothers every once in a while if we all have time to play. I am glad that there is someone else out there who likes to play volleyball.

  3. I agree, volleyball is a very fun sport to play. I don't play competitively, but my family and cousins sometimes will have a swim day where we play pool volleyball, and it is so much fun. Reading this blog has inspired me to try and get one last session like this before the fall weather takes over again.

  5. I agree, volleyball is a great sport. It is a fun sport to play casually when you are with friends, or family. I like playing on the beach because it is really fun and it can get competitive. After reading this I realize how much benefits playing volleyball can have on both your physical and mental health.

  6. I am glad you found a passion in volleyball! I never really played that much when I was younger, but it's always a fun activity to do on the beach when I'm out with a bunch of friends.
