Entry #7 Fresh

The film fresh is a documentary that was filmed by Ana Sofia Joanes. This film mainly focuses on sustainable agriculture and follows farmers and entrepreneurs who are influencing Americas food system. This film’s purpose is to inform and strike information to all Americans of what they are consuming. The documentary introduces viewers to a diverse group of individuals who have chosen an alternative path, stepping away from industrial farming and embracing regenerative agriculture. These farmers become the protagonists of the narrative “Fresh” that challenges the prevailing share their stories and opinions of modern agriculture.

Through their stories, the film explores the profound impact of sustainable practices not only on the environment but also on the health of the communities involved. For example, the narrator starts off the film by stating that "Americans fear inconvenience the most" this is the starting point of introducing how Americans don't care what is in their food, rather receiving their food faster and cheaper. This sets up the two main conflict points of the film, organic food versus modern food. The relationships between organic and modern food becomes a central theme, highlighting the consequences of the industrialized food system on public health, the environment, and the livelihoods of small-scale farmers.

"Fresh" prompts viewers to reconsider their relationship with food and encourages them to question the long-term implications of their choices on the broader food system. In my opinion I believe that small-scale farming/organic farming is a lot healthier and sustainable than modern farming. America is blinded by convenience and doesn’t consider the harm it is causing themselves and the earth.
